Writing my dissertation

This semester,I was lucky enough to get a fellowship to write my doctoral dissertation. I only have to keep office hours one morning a week to be available for tutoring.
I dont have to teach either.

I am making progress but sometimes its hard to stay motivated.

I have a new found respect for writers now!

Any advice?

Brooke Shields dress is a close second... I was thrilled to find out my favorite evening wear dress designers, Badgley Mischka made it! I absolutely love them!

Feminism on its head

No matter what you think of both Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin, as women, as feminists, should we not be excited about this?

Why are people, not to mention females like the idiotic Sally Quinn, asking if Gov. Palin can do her job as vice president with 5 kids? I dont think one person has asked Sen McCain about his seven kids or umpteen grandkids...

And I seriously doubt anyone asked President John Kennedy about his two small children!

Another thing I take issue with is that people question Gov. Palin's beauty pageant involvement. I guess you cant be both smart and attractive as well.

I am outraged by not only the sexism I am seeing, but the fact that "feminists" or people who say they are feminists are showing that they are against women succeeding in politics if they are conservative. I didnt know that feminism was about conservatives and liberals.

Why cant Palin be that also?

NFL start

I am so excited that the NFL began last night...
The game was a little boring...Redskins looked terrible!
But I cant wait to watch Tony Romolicious and the Cowboys kick some butt Sunday against the Browns!

Will we see more crying by T.O. this season?
Will Jerry Jones come down to the sidelines in the 3rd quarter?
Will Jessica Simpson be shown at every game?

I anticipate a great season!

Vegas Baby!

My husband and I are on the way to Vegas soon...
I have never been there... My husband keeps telling me I am going to love it!
I am looking forward to seeing all the great shopping, but am a little depressed about it at the same time...

I mean, who wouldnt be depressed going into Hermes when the price tag says $3,000 for one handbag! Or going into Jimmy Choo, etc... You know what I mean! Most of us middle class girls cant spend that kind of money! I mean, yeah, I might get lucky playing the slots, but lets be real here, Hermes is unattainable for most of us...

Anyone know of any cool shops in Vegas that are affordable and unique?

One thing I am certainly looking forward to, since I am a self-proclaimed foodie, is the dining! Food heaven here I come!
I dont care if I gain a few pounds, it will be worth it!

If anyone has any food or shopping tips for Vegas, please let me know!

Million Dollar Password observations...

I have sent int my "application" for Million Dollar Password. I was thrilled beyond belief when I heard the show was returning. My favorite game show of all-time was Super Password, hosted by Bert Convey.
If you out there in blogosphere have any clout with the show's contestant pickers, PLEASE PLEASE tell them I would be a great contestant!

Tonight, I noticed the words were much more difficult than in previous shows.
Words like "deputy" "sword" and others are hard to give...

I also noticed they had three ladies on today, which means my odds are getting better of being on the show. I think I have decided to send in my "application" once a week so the show knows my desire and enthusiasm for wanting to be on the show.

Boston Legal life lessons

I never really cared to watch Boston Legal, but my husband loves it, so I have tuned in... While the show makes me laugh, has convoluted story lines, is highly left-leaning, there is one thing I really like about it... Its the friendship between Alan and Denny Crane.

The writers portray Denny as a crazy far-right loon, but he and Alan remain close friends (Alan is extremely liberal)

What I like is that this shows that people with severely polar opposite political beliefs can be friends; best friends, no doubt...

In this highly divisive political climate, it is nice to see the writers show the love the two men have for one another. No, these guys are not gay, but they show affection like two real friends would...

Kudos to Boston Legal!
